Without it, there's so many words that you won't come accross the words you've learnt for quite a while and then you'll forget them because of a lack of exposure. SRS is just there so you keep remembering your words by making sure you'll always see them at some point in your life again in the right intervals. It's supposed to be an easier to use/simpler, more slick anki alternative. Why is that relevant though? It's not supposed to teach you the Japanese language. But so far I've been really having fun with it and I do feel like i'm really learning stuff (instead of just remembering sentences as I was doing with Duolingo). The grammar parts are not really detailed and I can't judge if everything's written in there is correct because i'm still learning. Of course it has still room for improvement. It has great audio excercises and a decent SRS system.īasically it's almost everything I've wanted from an app. You can make the app display the vocabulary with or without furigana. In the beginning of each chapter there is a small 'grammar lesson' that explains the concepts that'll be taught in the lesson. Its lessons are divided in charapters, each one teaching a concept and some vocabulary. It's a language app designed specifically for korean / chinese / japanese and I must say it does a wonderful job. Then one day I stumbled across LingoDeer on the AppStore. Human Japanese didn't give me the SRS part I want and Duolingo and Memrise didn't give me enough grammar information so I was stuck without a good way to move forward (I tried using books, and I still do use them, but I don't find them really good for self-studying). I've been searching for a decent app to learn Japanese for a long time.
